How to create a Virtual machine in VMware Workstation

Introduction:

VMware workstation is a software that is used to create a Virtual machine on a host Operating system.This is Type 1 Hypervisor which means it requires a hosts operating system to run.Virtual Machine can be a OS,Firewall and etc.

Steps To Create a Virtual Machine:

Step 1: Open the VMware Workstation to Create New Virtual Machine.

Step 2: Click the Create a New Virtual Machine.

Step 3: Two option are available I prefer custom option.

Step 4: Select the Hardware compatibility of workstation.

Step 5: If user have “ISO” File of the Operating System on CD-Drive means they select option  or if user have “ISO” file on Physical disk he can use Browse Option to load the OS or else user create Virtual Machine later he can install OS.

Note: Here i Install Ubuntu 16.04 and also i have ISO file of Ubuntu 16.04

Step 6: Enter the username and password for Linux OS

Step 7: By clicking Next user will get Location of Virtual Machine and Name of Virtual Machine.

Step 8: Select the Number of Processor and Core in a Processor.

Step 9: Select the amount of Memory to run a Virtual Machine.

Step 10: Select the Network Connection, user can also use the host internet connection by using bridge connection.Or else user doesn’t need network connection he can select last option.

 

Step 11: Select the Input and Output controller for Virtual Machine , User can select parallel and serial Interface.

LSI logic  for Parallel Interfaces and LSI Logic SAS for Serial Interface.

Step 12: Select the type of the Disk,User can use IDE,SATA or SCSI.

Step 13: Select the Disk of Storage,User can create new Virtual disk or use the previous disk or use the Physical disk.

Step 14: Allocate the disk space, by default it assign 20 GB, User can Split the device into multiple disk.

Step 15: After allocating it create a disk in “.vmdk” format

Step 16: After Finishing all Steps Click finish to launch a Virtual Machine.

Step 17: Power On the Virtual Machine to Run the OS.

After the power on ISO file format is ready to install,After the installation user can use the OS like in a Physical Machine.
